Scrub Palmetto : Sabal Etonia
General information: The Scrub palmetto is a hardy Florida palm. It is very similar to the Saw Palmetto (Serenoa repens). It grows to a height of 5-6 feet. This native plant often has a subterranean stem, but sometimes it develops a short trunk. The Florida palm tree has fan-shaped, yellow to green leaves and smooth leaf petioles.

Habitat: The Scrub palmetto is native to central and southeastern Florida.
Maintenance: These Florida palms are easy to maintain. They prefer full sun and regular watering. They are drought tolerant. The Scrub Palmettos are hardy and can be grown in zones 8 to 10.
Uses: Unfortunately these Florida palm trees are rarely cultivated plants. They can be used more in landscape designs in mass plantings or as borders and accent shrubs.
